Dr. Walker was a former critical care and trauma nurse and is an ANCC certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in nephrology, internal medicine, and primary care. Currently, she practices as an NP at Student Health Services and volunteers at the Edward Leahy Clinic for the Uninsured.

Dr. Walker teaches multiple courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs.  She completed her doctoral education in 2020 with a focus in nursing education, where her research involved therapeutic interaction with certified therapy dogs to reduce baccalaureate nursing student test anxiety. She continues to conduct research and publish scholarly articles related to student test anxiety.
